Menu Boards: Materials, Sizes and Ideas
Updated ·4 min read
How often you change your menu decides the material. For a wall menu that stays the same, use a printed aluminium or Foamex board. For a menu that changes often, use a pavement A-board, a poster holder or table-top signs, where you swap a poster instead of a whole sign. Our flat Foamex boards start from £10.50 and flat aluminium boards from £16.00, including VAT.

Pavement A-Boards With Changeable Posters
A pavement A-board puts your menu or daily special outside. The printed poster slots into a snap frame, so you can change the message whenever you like, and the board folds flat at the end of the day. It comes in 20 × 30 inch (508 × 762mm), A2 (420 × 594mm), A1 (594 × 841mm), B1 (707 × 1000mm) and A0 (841 × 1189mm), from £66.00 for the smallest. See our guide to A-board sizes.
Most pavements are highway land, so check your council's rules first. Our guide to A-boards and pavement permission explains what to check.
Window and Poster Holders
If your menu changes weekly or daily, print it as a poster and swap it. Posters come in A5 to A0 and custom sizes. A double-sided freestanding acrylic poster holder takes sizes from A5 to A1 and can sit on a counter or in a window.
For a window display, see our window graphics, including frosted window vinyl.
Which One Should You Choose?
- Menu changes rarely: a printed aluminium board, or Foamex for a lower cost indoors.
- Menu changes each season: a Foamex board, so reprinting is easy on the budget.
- Specials change daily: an A-board with a changeable poster, or posters in a holder.
- Menus on every table: table-top signs, card holders or strut cards.

Common Questions
What is the best material for a menu board?
It depends how often the menu changes. Aluminium composite is the choice for a fixed outdoor menu. Foamex costs less and suits indoor menus you reprint often. Posters in a holder or A-board are best for daily changes.
What size should a wall menu be?
Measure your wall first, and think about how far away customers stand when they read it. Our 1200 × 600mm and 1200 × 800mm board pages show live prices.
How do I change the menu on an A-board?
The poster slots into a snap frame, so you open the frame and swap the poster. It folds flat for storage at the end of the day.
Can I put a printed menu on my tables?
Yes. Table-top signs come in A6, A5 and A4, acrylic card holders take an optional printed insert, and strut cards stand freely on a counter or table.
Do you ship menu boards UK-wide?
Yes. We make everything at our Manchester production HQ and deliver across the UK, with next day delivery available at checkout.
