PVC Banner Sizes: Which Size Do You Need?

Updated ·4 min read

Our PVC banners come in seven preset sizes, from 1000 × 500mm up to 6000 × 1200mm, and we print to any custom size up to 10m × 3m. Prices start from £4.85 including VAT and production takes 1 to 2 working days. For a fence or railing, 2000 × 1000mm suits most spots; for a long shopfront or building, step up to 4000 × 1000mm or 6000 × 1200mm.

Preset Sizes and What They Suit

Every PVC banner is hemmed and finished with eyelets, ready to hang. These are our preset sizes, with a typical use for each:

  • 1000 × 500mm: a compact banner for a gate, a short railing or a shop window. See the 1m × 0.5m page.
  • 1500 × 600mm: a little wider, for a stall front, a doorway or a short fence panel. See the 1.5m × 0.6m page.
  • 2000 × 600mm: a slim, wide strip for railings and the top of a shopfront. See the 2m × 0.6m page.
  • 2000 × 1000mm: an all-rounder for fences, walls and event stands. See the 2m × 1m page.
  • 3000 × 900mm: a long banner for a wide railing or the front of a building. The nearest size page is 3m × 1m.
  • 4000 × 1000mm: for longer fences, sports grounds and big shopfronts. See the 4m × 1m page.
  • 6000 × 1200mm: our largest preset, for long frontages and sites that need to be seen from the road. See the 6m × 1.2m page.

Sizes in Feet, and a Bigger One

If you think in feet, these size pages cover the common imperial banner sizes:

These are printed as custom sizes, so you can also type in any width and height of your own.

How to Choose a Size

Start with the space, then work backwards from how far away people will be.

  • Measure the fence, railing or wall first. Measure the width and height you actually have, and leave a small gap at each end so the banner can be tied off neatly.
  • Think about viewing distance. The further away people are when they first see it, the bigger the banner and the bigger the lettering needs to be. A banner read from a pavement can be smaller than one read from a passing car.
  • Keep the message short. A logo, a headline and a web address or phone number read better than a paragraph.
  • Think about wind. A very large banner on an exposed spot catches more wind. For scaffolding and other windy or exposed sites, a mesh banner is the better choice. Mesh banners are quoted, so ask us for a quote.

Custom Sizes up to 10m × 3m

If none of the presets fit, enter your own size on the product page. We print custom banners from 500 to 10000mm wide and 300 to 3000mm high, so up to 10m × 3m. Single or double-sided is your choice, and the price updates as you change the size.

440gsm or 300gsm?

We print on two weights of PVC. 440gsm is the heavier, harder-wearing option, so choose it for banners that will be outside, fixed in place for a while or hung somewhere exposed. 300gsm is lighter and lower in cost, which suits shorter promotions and events.

Delivery for Rolled Banners

PVC banners ship rolled, so only the shorter side counts for courier size. Anything over 1500mm on the shorter side is a large item, which is why our 6000 × 1200mm banner (1200mm on the shorter side) is not a large item, while a 3000 × 2000mm banner is. For a large item, choose large-item delivery at checkout and we will email you a delivery price to approve, usually within one working day.

Standard UK delivery takes 3 to 5 working days, or 1 working day with next day delivery. We make every banner at our Manchester production HQ and deliver UK-wide.

Common Questions

Which PVC banner size suits a fence?

2000 × 1000mm suits most fences, walls and event stands. For long railings and shopfronts, 4000 × 1000mm is the next step up. See our 2m × 1m banner page.

How big can a PVC banner be?

We print banners up to 10m × 3m. Custom sizes run from 500 to 10000mm wide and 300 to 3000mm high.

What is the difference between 440gsm and 300gsm?

440gsm is the heavier, harder-wearing PVC. 300gsm is lighter and lower in cost. Both are hemmed and finished with eyelets.

How long does a PVC banner take to make?

1 to 2 working days from proof approval, then delivery. Standard UK delivery takes 3 to 5 working days, and next day delivery takes 1 working day.

Should I buy a PVC banner or a roller banner?

A PVC banner is made to your size and hangs outdoors on fences, railings and shopfronts. A roller banner is a free-standing indoor display that packs into its base. Our roller banner vs PVC banner comparison goes through the differences.
