How Much Does a Shop Sign Cost in the UK?
Updated ·4 min read
A printed shop sign costs from £10.50 for a Foamex panel or £12.00 for an outdoor-grade aluminium sign at the smallest size, including VAT. A typical 1500 × 500mm fascia panel starts at £62.00 inc VAT in aluminium composite or £50.50 in Foamex at current prices. Signtrays, lightboxes and neon signs are made to order and quoted per job, and installation is quoted separately.

Example prices for common sizes
Size is the biggest single factor in the price of a flat sign. These are today's starting prices for a single-sided flat sign at each size, including VAT, with the most affordable board and finish:
- A2 (420 × 594mm): from £24.00 in Foamex, £37.00 in aluminium composite
- A1 (594 × 841mm): from £38.50 in Foamex, £44.00 in aluminium composite
- 1200 × 600mm: from £48.50 in Foamex, £60.00 in aluminium composite
- 1500 × 500mm: from £50.50 in Foamex, £62.00 in aluminium composite
- Full sheet (1220 × 2440mm): from £157.00 in Foamex, £184.00 in aluminium composite
These prices come straight from the calculator on each product page, so they update whenever our prices do. Our sizes and prices page has more sizes with full price tables. The price per square metre falls as the sign gets bigger, so one large panel usually costs less than several small ones covering the same area.
What changes the price
- Size: larger panels use more material and print.
- Material: aluminium composite costs more than Foamex but is made to last outdoors. Our sign materials guide compares them.
- Construction: a flat panel is the simplest option. A signtray adds a folded tray, and raised 2.5D or fret-cut lettering adds cutting and assembly.
- Finish: double-sided print, premium printed vinyl, laminates (matt, gloss or anti-graffiti) and rounded corners all add to the price.
- Lighting: illuminated signs need lighting, power and usually advertisement consent, so they are quoted per job.
- Speed: priority and express production cost more than standard.
- Quantity: on many products the price per item drops as you order more.
Delivery, installation and artwork
Standard UK delivery is £9.95, or free on orders of £150 or more including VAT, and next day delivery is £14.95. Anything over 1.5m on a side is too big for our standard courier, so it goes by large-item delivery, which we price after you order, or you can collect it free from our workshop in Trafford Park, Manchester.
Installation is quoted for your site. Tick professional installation at checkout and nothing is charged for it there, then our team contacts you to discuss the site and confirm a price. Delivery is included when we install.
If you need artwork, our design service is priced on the product page before you add it to your basket. Every file is checked by a real person before printing, free of charge, and our guide to preparing artwork for print explains how to set your file up.
When a sign is quoted rather than priced online
Some signs depend too much on the site to price instantly: signtrays, illuminated signs, neon, built-up letters and anything unusually large or shaped. For these, add the product to your basket for a quote, or send the details on our quote page with your measurements and photos. We usually reply with a price the same working day.
You can mix priced and quote items in one basket. You pay for the priced items at checkout as normal, and we email you about the rest.
Common questions
Do your prices include VAT?
Yes. Prices on our site include VAT at 20% unless stated otherwise, and the prices in this guide include VAT.
Is there a minimum order?
There is no minimum quantity, so you can order a single sign. The smallest order we take is £10 plus VAT.
How much does a signtray cost?
Signtrays are made to order, so they are quoted for your size, finish and site. Send the details on our quote page and we will email you a price, usually the same working day.
How much does shop sign installation cost?
It depends on the site, access and fixings, so installation is quoted per job after you order. Delivery is included when we install.
Why does aluminium cost more than Foamex?
Aluminium composite is a stronger, weather-resistant panel made for long-term outdoor use, while Foamex is a lighter PVC foam board best suited to indoor and short-term signs.
