Common questions
What signs does a new shop need before it opens?
Start with the fascia, because it takes longest to make and may need consent if it is lit. Then add window graphics, a pavement A-board if your council allows one, and point-of-sale displays for the counter and shelves. Our lead times guide shows how long each type takes.
Can you roll out the same signage across several stores?
Yes. Send us a list of stores with window or fascia sizes, or photos, and we will produce each set to fit while keeping the campaign identical. We rolled out Castore's Christmas windows across 25 stores in the UK and the Netherlands in two weeks.
Do I need planning permission for a shop sign?
Many non-illuminated fascia signs in England can go up under the deemed consent rules, but illuminated signs, very high signs and signs on listed buildings or in conservation areas often need advertisement consent. Read our planning permission guide and check with your local planning authority before you order.
Can I put an A-board on the pavement outside my shop?
Usually only with the council's permission, because pavements are normally highway land and many councils set their own rules on size and position. Our aluminium A-boards use snap frames, so you can change the poster as often as your offers change.
What is the difference between POS and visual merchandising?
Point-of-sale (POS) displays carry a message or a price where people decide to buy, such as strut cards and card holders on a counter. Visual merchandising (VM) is how the products themselves are presented, using pieces like display bridges and glorifiers to lift a product and draw the eye. Our POS and VM range covers both.
